Opportunity to Join the Chief Scientist Office Public Engagement Group

Opportunity to Join the Chief Scientist Office Public Engagement Group

3rd May 2017

We are looking to recruit new members of our public engagement group (PEG). The main role of our group is to provide a lay perspective on the activities of CSO and ensure the public view is taken into account in relevant policy and funding issues. The group meets in Edinburgh 2-3 times a year for group information events. In addition, Members are normally appointed by the Chief Scientist to one of the various CSO Committees and Groups. Members attend these Committees to provide a lay perspective and to ensure that the outcomes of discussions are transparent and fair.

On occasions, individuals may be asked to partake in particular tasks such as reviewing CSO documentation to ensure that it can be understood by the layperson, or attending additional events or activities which CSO may be involved in.

Time Commitment

3-5 days per year to attend meetings plus time to read meeting papers.

Requirements

  • Interest in health research
  • Ability to travel to Edinburgh for meetings
  • Ability to correspond with CSO by email
