Take Part in Diabetes Research

New medical treatments and therapies are being developed through research all the time, bringing hope to people living with diabetes; but the researchers making these breakthroughs need your help

The NHS Research Scotland (NRS) Diabetes Register gives all patients with diabetes, living in Scotland, an opportunity to be contacted about taking part in diabetes-related research projects.

By joining the Diabetes Register, you allow the NRS Diabetes Network to securely access your NHS diabetes computer records. Your NHS diabetes computer record consists of information held in SCI-Diabetes. SCI-Diabetes provides an electronic patient record to support treatment of NHS Scotland patients with diabetes.

If a research project would benefit from someone with your health record taking part, you may be contacted with more information and asked if you would be interested in taking part. Whether to take part in a research project is your decision to make.

How do I Join the Diabetes Register?

It only takes a minute to join the Diabetes Register.

To join by email

Send your full name, postcode, date of birth and preferred method of contact to TAY.diabetesresearchregister@nhs.scot

To join by post

Contact NRS Diabetes on 01382 383 595 or TAY.diabetesresearchregister@nhs.scot and ask for a registration form to be sent to you. It's free to post back.

We recommend you read the Privacy Information Notice prior to joining. If you would like to receive a printed copy, please request this in your initial email.

How do I Withdraw from the Diabetes Register?

Withdrawing from the Diabetes Register is simple.

If you decide you want to withdraw please call 01382 383 595 or email your full name, postcode, date of birth to TAY.diabetesresearchregister@nhs.scot.
