Grampian pair awarded for collaborative excellence after successful delivery of research conference
Two leading figures in the delivery of NHS Research Scotland (NRS) ambitions have been singled out for their dedicated work in organising last year’s successful NHS Grampian Research Conference
NRS Reproductive Health and Childbirth Network Manager Anushree ‘Annie’ Ganguly and Grampian Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) Coordinator Dr Rituka Richardson jointly received the Collaboration Award 2026 from Aberdeen Convention Bureau (ACB) earlier this month.
The NHS Grampian pair were judged to have been the awards’ top exemplars of the category’s search for outstanding “collaborative work across research, healthcare, academia, and industry”.
The 10th NHS Grampian Research Conference took place at P&J Live, Aberdeen, from 27-28 June with Annie and Rikuta both playing key roles in ensuring its multi-faceted programme — attracting almost 200 delegates — was well-received by all.
Annie and Rikuta helped to secure 40 speakers from 20 different organisations across the UK, presenting and prompting discussion on the theme of ‘Breaking Traditional Disciplinary Boundaries’.
The conference – a collaboration between NHS Grampian, NRS, and the University of Aberdeen’s Interdisciplinary Institute and Rowett Institute — encouraged patient and public involvement (PPI) representatives to meet with those involved in research and health service delivery.
Keynote speakers included Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron; President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Professor Hany Eteiba; Chair of NHS Grampian Board, Alison Evison; Chief Officer of Public Health Scotland, Manira Ahmed; and the Head of Chief Scientist Office, Euan Dick.
Professor Eteiba called it an “important and exciting event” including a networking dinner and a dedicated session on NHS Grampian’s selection as one of 21 CRDCs across the UK, spotlighting research inclusion, PPI, as well as equity of access to those living in remote and rural areas.
NHS Grampian R&D Director, Professor Seshadri Vasan said: “Huge congratulations go to Annie and Rituka on their collaboration award — a real testament to their hard work and excellent management skills which helped to culminate in a fantastic, inclusive event held across two highly engaging days.
“We’re extremely proud of their efforts which helped to make the 10th anniversary event a truly memorable one.
“Both embody the excellence and details-driven diligence which NHS Grampian continuously strives for — values which I am certain will be in clear evidence again at our next annual showcase.”
This year’s Grampian Research Conference will take place at the Robert Gordon University on 14-15 May with a focus on the theme of ‘Better Cancer Outcomes’. To sponsor or attend, please email gram.conf26@nhs.scot.
