Reproductive Health and Childbirth Speciality Group seeking new Clinical Lead for ‘exciting opportunity’
The NHS Research Scotland (NRS) Reproductive Health and Childbirth Specialty Group has a vacancy for a Clinical Lead, considered to be an ‘exciting opportunity to make a real difference’
The Chief Scientist Office (CSO) is looking to make an appointment over the next few months to support the effective delivery of research projects, including increasing the number of patients enrolled into trials and helping to reduce barriers to participation.
The Reproductive Health and Childbirth Specialty Group post holder will be expected to work closely with its Network Manager, together with established groups, individual clinicians, NRS Research & Development Directors and lay representatives.
The key aim will be to promote, deliver and develop Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) activity in Reproductive Health and Childbirth, and with CSO on wider NRS strategic initiatives.
A further important aspect of the role will be to work with CSO and NHS Research Scotland Central Management Team (NRS-CMT) to ensure the resilience and growth of the NRS portfolio.
The post holder will be an established clinician who is resident and working in Scotland and must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in clinical and/or wider health research activity within Reproductive Health and Childbirth.
Hours are 0.2 FTE/2 PA per week while salary is pro-rata within the post holder’s pay scale. The duration of the role is three years in the first instance, with the possibility to extend that.
Champion Support Manager Anushree (Annie) Ganguly was appointed last year and said: “Our role is primarily to support delivery of high-quality clinical research in Reproductive Health and Childbirth, which is a vital, varied, and often fast-moving area.
“I would urge relevant applicants who are looking to provide national leadership in the development of clinical research activity in Scotland to take on this exciting opportunity.
“Supporting and promoting our goals can undoubtedly make a real difference in enhancing physical, mental, and social wellbeing.”
The NHS Research Scotland Reproductive Health and Childbirth Specialty Advisory Group consists of local champions from each Health Board and representatives from Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Midwifery, Nursing and Trainees.
Applications should be submitted to David Hood by the closing date of 5pm on Friday 20 March, comprising a succinct CV (3-page maximum) and cover letter with the full job description in mind.
Interviews are expected to be held virtually during w/c 13 April. Please contact Dr Alan McNair if you would like to discuss further prior to application.
